Why IBGIA exists

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming every sector of society. In Brazil and Latin America, this transformation occurs in a context of social inequality, cultural diversity and unique regulatory challenges that demand specific governance approaches.

While European and North American countries advance in creating regulatory frameworks and governance standards, the Latin American region still lacks specialized institutions that can guide governments, companies and civil society on best practices in the development and use of AI systems.

IBGIA was founded to fill this gap. As an independent nonprofit civil association, we work to build bridges between different sectors of society, promoting dialogue, education and the creation of standards that ensure AI serves the public interest.
